12 april 2020 - Alphen aan den Rijn, Nederland

Finally a new story  😊. The reason why it took so long, the Corona virus. In the beginning of March I brought the campervan for service to a garage in Amsterdam. I left my diary in the campervan, so I couldn't update the blog. The planning was to go skiing in France together with my friend Karin and Jurgen planned a 4 week trip with his girlfriend Natalia, starting in Paris. On our way to France (by bus) we received the bad news that France had closed the border for tourist, so the bus turned and we were dropped in Maastricht, that was the end of our holiday. Jurgen and Natalia made it after 5 days to Brussel, but because of the lockdown Natalia had to fly back to Chigaco and Jurgen returned to The Netherlands.

Onderweg naar Frankrijk Corona virus

I stayed at Karin and Edwins place and Jurgen stayed with Pim, our nephew. One week later (the campervan was stil at the garage) we both became ill, Corona? We still don't know, not tested. But we in stayed in quarantaine for one week, Pim stayed with a friend. We kicked Pim out his appartment, sorry Pim, but many thanks. 😉 Currently we are staying on a beautiful campsite in Alpen a/d Rijn, Polderflora. We found work nearby, Hoogvliet distribution centre. We are staying in Alphen a/d Rijn due to the Corona crisis, and will probably will do so as long as needed.

Portugal

We really fell in love with Portugal, beautiful nature, weather and people.

First stop Pera, beautiful sunset.

En wederom een zonsondergang 😉

An acquaintance of Jurgen lives nearby. Her name is Yayeri, she lives together with her boyfriend Kay and their daughter in a beautiful house on top of a mountain. We biked up there for a visit 👍

Alferre

Free camp pitch in a small village. The camp pitch was maintained bij the residents in order to get more tourists.

Praia de Vagneira

Here we camped in the wild. Superb spot with a great view.

A very nice eco camping. Here we met Selma and Michel from Egmond aan Zee for the second time (the first meeting was in Spain). Together we drank a lot of alcohol and played Settlers of Catan. 😊

Huge campsite and just us. We had 30 toilets and 30 showers for ourselves. Jurgen actually got lost 😂

Camping in Cafanka du Bora Hora

Evoramonte

Here we met Selma and Michel for the third time. Beautiful spot next to our friends. Selma and Michel picked up a lovely dog that was walking on a very busy street. After contacting the veterinarian they decided to keep the dog. It took 1 hour to remove all the fleas.

Ferreira do Zezere

This campsite was closed, so we decided to stay on the parking lot. Nice place along a beautiful lake.

Jurgen tried to catch some fish for dinner, but he had no luck.

Gafanka du Bora Hora

Lovely camping, but due to low season all the facilities were closed. We took our bikes and headed to the Venice from Portugal: Aveilo

Souselo

We received a text Message from Selma and Michel that they found a beautiful free pitch, so we joined them (for the fourth time😜). Here Jurgen played guitar together with another Dutchman and we joined a yoga lesson led by Jade.

Braganca

Last stop in Portugal. Nice place, but at night it became very exciting. The electricity pole caught fire. Looked like fireworks and the rest of the night we were without power. ☹️.

Mooie camping in Braganca
